Port des Torrent Beach | Things to Do in Ibiza with Kids

Port des Torrent • West COAST

Port des Torrent is one of those beaches that quietly becomes part of everyday family life on the west side of the island. Sitting just beyond San Antonio Bay, it is the kind of place people return to after school pickups, summer camps and long hot afternoons when nobody quite wants to go home yet.

For families looking for simple things to do in Ibiza with kids, it has a rhythm that feels uncomplicated and familiar throughout the week.

PADDLE BOARDS AND SHALLOW WATER

There is a dusty car park beside the beach, along with a little street parking too, which means arriving here rarely feels stressful, even in summer. Children spill out carrying buckets, paddle boards and towels while parents gather bags from the boot before wandering slowly towards the sea. The beach itself curves gently around the bay, with soft pale sand and shallow clear water that stays calm enough for children to swim and paddle comfortably. It is a brilliant place to bring paddle boards, especially later in the day when the water becomes glassy and boats begin drifting quietly across the bay. Pedalos can be rented from the beach too, quickly becoming the centre of attention once children spot the slides attached to them.

At either end of the cala, small rocky coves create another kind of landscape for children to explore. They climb carefully over the warm rocks searching for crabs, shells and tiny fish caught in the pools between the stone, while on the far left side of the beach a small stretch of trees creates natural shade where families tend to gather during the hottest part of the afternoon.

PIZZA ON THE BEACH

One of the small rituals of Port des Torrent is collecting takeaway pizzas from Spritzeria and carrying them straight onto the sand for sunset. The restaurant has become a favourite with local families, not least because gluten free bases are available too, making it an easy option for groups with different dietary needs. Children continue swimming while parents open pizza boxes on towels still warm from the day’s heat, and slowly the beach begins to fill with that unmistakable west coast evening light.

Along the beach there are local sunbeds available to rent, while Tigre brings a slightly more elevated chiringuito atmosphere to one side of the bay. Long lunches drift into cocktails and sunset dinners, though the feeling still remains relaxed and unpretentious rather than overly polished.

THE EVENING RHYTHM

Port des Torrent comes into its own later in the day, when families begin arriving after school, camp or work and the beach fills with the soft chaos of summer evenings. Children drift between the sea and the sand while takeaway pizzas from Spritzeria are carried down onto towels still warm from the heat of the day. As the sun begins lowering behind the bay, familiar faces appear along the shoreline and somehow a quick swim quietly turns into staying until dark.

WHAT LINGERS

Port des Torrent lingers in the way ordinary afternoons become summer memories almost without anyone noticing. A quick swim after camp turns into paddle boards on the water, takeaway pizza from Spritzeria opened on warm towels, children searching for crabs between the rocks and the sky slowly changing over the bay. It is not a beach that needs to feel hidden or perfect. Its beauty is in the ease of it, the familiar faces, the sandy feet, the clear shallow water and the feeling that, somehow, the day has stretched a little longer than it was meant to.
